BTRT Patterns (on Etsy)

Tuesday, 1 July 2008
Today, perhaps inspired by Canada Day, I made my first flat felted piece. The backing is a recycled wool sweater (felted) and the picture is entirely needle felted with merino, silk, bamboo and alpaca fibers. The finished image is 8 x 10".It is titled 'So Small in the Big of it All'~ which is not to suggest insignificance of humanity, but the sheer grandeur of our world that should move us to awe and thankful living. I also had in mind the Algonquin belief that the Northern Lights are the ancestors in dance as I felted the adult and child, seeing not two, but at least three, and many more generations in the picture.
Thanks for looking!
